Shooters and Stoppers

Never Rattled Shooters and Stoppers clinics bring elite college level instruction and organization to youth and middle school groups. Teaching through competition, our clinics take a detailed approach to shooting, while bringing the highest level of instruction to goalies.

Meet The Staff

Ted Bergman

Coach Ted Bergman is in his 2nd season as a Lacrosse Coach at Harvard University, where he has led the goalies and helped lead the defense to tremendous success. Coaching the goalies to the 3rd best saves/game (14.75) in the nation, and a top 15 save percentage (56.7%), Coach Bergman also helped to drastically improve the Crimson's Goals Against Average (11.25) in the COVID shortened season.

Bergman, a standout lacrosse goaltender at Division III powerhouse Wesleyan University, also has significant experience playing and coaching overseas.

Bergman was named National Goalie of the Year in 2017, earning the Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. honor from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. He was the first Wesleyan goalie to be selected a First Team All-American as he led his team to its first NCAA Final Four appearance in a decade. As team captain, Bergman led the Cardinals on a program-record 20-game winning streak in his final season.

Bergman also spent two seasons playing in the Israel Premier Lacrosse League. He earned league MVP honors and was a two-time All-IPLL First Team selection.

Neil Hutchinson

Coach Neil Hutchinson is in his 2nd season as the Offensive Coordinator at Harvard University. Focusing on individual player development, Coach Hutchinson has a proven track record of success at his previous stops at Notre Dame, UMBC and Towson University.

Hutchinson joins the Crimson Staff following a successful stint at Notre Dame. Working primarily with the midfielders and face-off specialists, Hutchinson helped guide Bryan Costabile now with the PLL Atlas, to career highs in both Goals and Assists. Costabile was also the ACC Offensive Player of the Year, as well as a First Team All American.

During a COVID-19 Shortened 2020 season, multiple offensive players were on pace to set career highs in both goals and assists, with several players close to eclipsing those highs in only 4 games. Averaging nearly 12 goals per game, the Crimson Offensive scored on 36% of their shots, good enough for 9th at the Division 1 level.

At Previous stops at UMBC and Towson, Coach Hutchinson’s impact was felt on the offensive end of the field. Coach Hutchinson also served a role in the development of current PLL Waterdog Ryan Drenner during his time at Towson.

Our Curriculum

Shooters

We teach shooting through our 3 Pillar Approach:

1. Accuracy

We teach our shooters where to shoot the ball in certain situations, while emphasizing the fundamentals of how to maneuver the stick head so the ball arrives precisely to that location.

2. Velocity

Shoot speed is an important factor to shooting. While strength can play a role in the speed of a shot, it is actually your form and fundamentals that most impact velocity.  We teach proper shooting form from the ground up. We focus on your feet, hips, shoulders, and head alignment.

3. Deception

Deception is a very valuable aspect of shooting to help confuse goalies.  We teach our shooters how to use their body language to deceive and manipulate the goaltender.

Stoppers

We are Never Rattled.  It is our brand's foundation. Goalie is a position that can feel alienating, but through this isolation we can learn the value of a clear thought process.  This allows us to make big saves, in big moments. Every single drill in our clinic will reinforce positive body language, mental discipline, and a next play mentality.

We train our goalies based on our Five Core Principles:

1. Balance

A goalie must be balanced in the net at all times, with perfectly equal weight distribution between each leg.

2. Hip Flexibility

A goalie must have strength and flexibility in their hips.  These under-trained, and under-appreciated muscles are responsible for our explosiveness, which is essential between the pipes.

3. Hand Speed

A goalie must have fast hands.  This is a requirement to play the position at a high level.

4. Footwork

A goalie must have solid footwork, to ensure we are always properly positioned in the net.

5. Stick Skills

A goalie must have strong stick skills.  Making a save is not enough.  We need to lead our team through the clearing aspects of the game.
